What is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)?
Children who have experienced abuse or neglect often face uncertainty, loss, and significant challenges. During this difficult time, children in foster care need one consistent, caring adult who is focused solely on their best interests.
Appointed by a judge, CASA of Mesa County provides a trusted adult to advocate for a child's best interests. CASA staff carefully select a trained volunteer based on the specific needs of the case. The volunteer gets to know the child, visits regularly, gathers important information, and provides informed recommendations to the court regarding the child's safety, well-being, and needs.
This dedicated, one-on-one advocacy continues throughout the life of the case, helping judges make well-informed decisions that prioritize each child's safety, stability, and long-term well-being.
